Choices- #Poem #Painkillers

I had a choice

I’m breathing in the pain

It spears through me

Cutting into my mind

I wasn’t to numb it

Over and over again I chew up the painkillers

But it’s still there

Stabbing through my hips

My back reminding me to stand straight

My neck telling new to stay tall

To walk upright

Moving taller, the pain lessens

But the painkillers are still on the table

I can take it now, in case the pain returns

In case this is an illusion

The choice is mine

The pills still in my palm

My eyes are on the horizon

I can come in many labels, many boxes, a divorcee, survivor, traveler, writer, optimist. But these labels only limit me to who I am at this point in time. But as you will read on my blog, I am my journey. I hope you will enjoy walking this path with me.
