Guilt versus Responsibility- #Poem #Poetry

I have guilt

But you have the responsibility

You walked out

Without even trying to repair the holes you picked open

I said sorry for my part

As soon as I saw where I’d pulled a thread out

In that moment you said thanks for mistreating me

Today I called for the first time in months

And heard the sadness in you

You still lived there

In the darkness of our separation

I left the guilt with you in June

When I moved out

You had the responsibility

And now live in the guilt

I can come in many labels, many boxes, a divorcee, survivor, traveler, writer, optimist. But these labels only limit me to who I am at this point in time. But as you will read on my blog, I am my journey. I hope you will enjoy walking this path with me.

  1. Beautifully written! ❤
I can't count the number of times I've felt exactly like this.
Your piece was so relatable and your message was poignant.
Looking forward to reading more from you, Eliza!

      1. Often, we need to look through another set of eyes to see our lives with a different perspective… I’m glad you had that
        You’re welcome, Eliza! ❤
