London- #Poem #Poetry

They say you’re cold

Your exterior is hard

My shrouded London city

With people as grey as your clouds

Monuments with dark history

Lines vast traffic laiden streets

Iconic red buses

And black cabs

All loping around

As cyclists demonstrate dare devil tactics

Pedestrians blindly on phones

Risking  their lives blindly

On their phones for constant narcissistic connection

Breaking through your touristic surface

I can see you’re seeped in gore and history

Dark and brooding

With Rippers and Gang warfare

If you were human

You’d be a wizened scared battle commander

Surveying your lost territory

In an Ivory tower

Whilst preaching about your non- existent empire

But I love you still

My deluded capitalistic friend

Because I see the gentle centre

You hide behind your austere exterior

I can come in many labels, many boxes, a divorcee, survivor, traveler, writer, optimist. But these labels only limit me to who I am at this point in time. But as you will read on my blog, I am my journey. I hope you will enjoy walking this path with me.
